The Cambridge Model Railroad Club is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this fall. The club was formed in November, 1975, to promote model railroading and to encourage its members to develop their modelling skills and to support the NMRA. The majority of our members are also NMRA (Niagara Frontier Region) members, and several are working towards the Master Model Railroader achievement. The club members' layouts range from fully scenicked, basement sized empires with handlaid track throughout and command control, through table sized pikes of sectional track. All of the layouts in the group have one thing in common, though. They provide hours of enjoyment to their builders.

Operates a large (110 ft by 40ft) established "0" scale layout, including standard railway, trolley and "On3" sections. Our club is undergoing some physical changes and we are inviting interested modelers to come out and be part of the most extensive renovations since we moved to our present location over thirty years ago. The main lines are being shortened up to improve public access to the back area of the club. This will result in the entire 12’x40’ back area being redone. This area will be redeveloped into a primarily On3 operation with an interchange to the standard gauge. We need and encourage both experienced modelers and newcomers to come out and try “O” gauge (1/4” scale). Ownership of “O” scale equipment is not mandatory and if you are an inexperienced modeler this is a great opportunity to learn as we have work to do in scenery, trackwork, buildings, rolling stock, wiring, etc.. If you do not know how to do these items or want to improve your skills we will try to teach you. If you have something to teach us we really want you!

Meetings: We meet Tuesday and Thursday each week from 7:00PM to 9:30 PM. Come out and talk to us. Open to the public first Tuesday of each month from October to May each year, from 7:00 to 9:30 PM and special occasions

Canada's largest O-scale model railroad, the "Central Ontario Railroad", occupies over 5,000 square feet. The layout is built in O Scale. All the Models are 1/48 the size of the real thing. A model of a 40-foot boxcar is therefore 10 inches long. The layout room is about 120 feet long and 40 feet wide featuring a track plan of point to point design, with trains passing through each town only once. Lilleyburg is the southern terminus of the railway with about nine scale miles of track (about 990 feet) separate it from the northern terminus at Ebertville. Trains require 15-20 minutes to travel from one end of the railroad to the other. The Model Railroad Club of Toronto is actively looking for new members. It matters not that whether you are an experienced model railroader or an enthusiastic novice. Ownership of O scale equipment is not a requirement of membership, but rather an interest in helping out, developing new friendships and having a great time.

Meetings: Wednesday evenings starting at 7pm, Operating sessions: 1st Wed evening of every month (except Feb and Mar).

HO layout with MCR, NYC, Chessie, Wabash, Pere Marquette (plus CN and CP) etc. running Niagara Falls-Detroit through St. Thomas early 1950s. Plan to restore large N scale layout. Hands-on HO layout for kids. No charge, donations accepted. The museum, in an historic 1913 Michigan Central Railway engine house, is a memorial to St. Thomas' past, when it was the operating hub of the Canada Southern Railway, a bridge line joining Detroit and Buffalo on Canadian soil. Its tracks carried or were operated by a number of famous old U.S. lines that are now part of history too. We have two major shows a year. Railway Nostalgia Weekend is always the first Saturday and Sunday of May. Railway Heritage Weekend is always the last Saturday and Sunday of August. At either show, in addition to locomotives in operation and under reconstruction, visitors can see restored and under-restoration rolling stock in ECRM's growing collection. Model builders and railfans will also find at both shows more than 60 vendor and display tables as well as major visiting modular layouts. Examples in the past are the Orangeville Short Lines (HO) and the Erin Mills N-scale club, who have co-operated on layouts with the London Ngineers. The CASO club has finished trackwork of the route from Niagara Falls to Windsor (Detroit) and scenic work is underway. There are extensive yards at St. Thomas and Windsor with representative small operations in some of the communities along the line. Railfans of all ages can take rides through the St. Thomas yards during shows, some open Sundays and by appointment behind Tillie, our 43-ton diesel switcher which worked the yards for Wabash from 1939 to 1961. At the other end of rail ride scale, gas car rides in the yards are often available. When you are done in the yards, climb into the towering cab of our flagship CN 5700 Hudson. She is not under her own power now but is still an impressive monument to the past. You can inspect the work on No. 9, the ex-Essex Terminal Railway 0-6-0, has been rebuilt from piles of parts by the Southern Ontario Locomotive Society, guests of the museum. She is 100% and running under her own steam. Other notable restoration work: 1915 ex-London and Port Stanley GE box cab electric locomotive L1, a 1968 MLW-Alco RS-18 diesel owned by Ontario Southland Railway , the Cascade Lane, a former New York Central Pullman car which may have run on some of NYC's crack trains, such as the 20th Century Limited before moving over to the CPR, and our 1953 CN express car, which is our mobile unit, taking displays of the museum's work to various Ontario rail sites. There is no admission fee, but donations to museum activities are welcome. The stores shop has souvenirs and memorabilia.

Meetings: Open house: Sundays 10am to 4pm May-September. Workdays Wednesday nights, Saturday mornings.

A group of HO model railroaders formed the York Railway Modellers club in the spring of 1992 to build and operate a combined Mainline and Wayfreight layout. With emphasis on the prototype practices and operation of the Canadian National Railways and the Canadian Pacific Railway in Southern Ontario during the Golden Age of Steam. As a guideline we follow the standards of the National Model Railroad Association, and the prototype practices of the Canadian National Railways and the Canadian Pacific Railway as they were in Southern Ontario between the years of 1953 and 1957. The layout (still under construction) is over 1600 square feet in area and has around 11 (HO) scale miles of mainline track with 2 major yards and 8 wayfreight towns. In each yard there are 3 industrial areas plus a roundhouse, turntable and engine facilities. There is 1 online industry which is serviced by both railways. Looking for new members for new HO scale club. If you enjoy the club you can become a probationary member for six months with dues at $50 per month. If you then wish to join the initiation fee is $150 and dues remain at $50 per month.

Meetings: Run night is usually the second Friday of each month.
