The Hawkeye Model Railroad Club, formed in spring of 2006, is located at 860 Quarry Road, Coralville, IA. The Club is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to educate Club members and the general public about railroading and model railroading. The Club has a space of about 2000 square feet in which to build an HO-scale layout, which will model a Midwestern Class I railroad. The layout is designed for operation and uses a Northcoast Engineering Digital Command Control system. Phase I of the layout is under construction.
The Club has built a display layout that can be viewed by visitors to the Antique Car Museum of Iowa. The display layout is about 8 ft by 32 ft and is located in the Club space, which is adjacent to the Museum. The display trains can be run by pressing a button on the Museum side of the wall.
Club membership is open to persons interested in model railroading. Some current members are just getting started in the hobby and some have been modeling for over 50 years. Members' interests include building model trains, building structures, designing and building scenery, electronics, prototype operations, history of railroads, and railfanning.
To get to the Club from I-80, take the First Avenue exit (exit 242). Go south to Ninth Street (second stoplight) and turn left (east). At the clock tower, turn right. The Club space is in the Antique Car Museum of Iowa building. Enter the Club space through the southeast door.
Meetings: The Club holds a business meeting on the third Wednesday of every month at 7:00 pm in the Club space located at 860 Quarry Road, Coralville. Work sessions are scheduled for the other Wednesdays from 7 to 9 pm.

The Raccoon Valley Model Railroad Club is a model railroad club in Johnston, Iowa, just North of Des Moines modeling in O, On3, On30, HO, and HOn3. No formal politics, just plain old railroading fun here. We have over 2,400sq.ft. to pay in. The O, On3 and HO layouts are using Digitrax DCC with computer support. The O-scale (2 rail) layout has two large yards and over 400 feet of mainline. It shares space with the On3. Scenery has started but more is to come. The HO layout has over 300’ of main line and has recently been reworked to increase its operations possibilities. A large engine facility is in the works and scenery is about to begin. It also interchanges lumber and goods with a HOn3. Club membership is open to persons, young and old, interested in all facets of railroading. Current members range from those just getting started in the hobby to those seasoned pro’s who have been modeling for over 50 years. Members' interests include scratch building, structures, scenery, electronics, DCC, prototype operations, history of railroads, cottage manufacturing, railfanning, and running the real things. From I-80/35 take Exit 131. Head North for 0.6 miles. Turn Left (West) after you pass under the high power lines. We located on the back side of the strip mall in Suite G. Then go down the stairs.
