2027 Convention
Plans are underway for the joint 2027 Rocky Mountain and Mid-Continent Regional Convention, May 13–15 at the Little America Hotel in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
The convention package features a variety of railroad-related activities in and around Cheyenne.
- Start your model railroading experience at the Colorado Model Railroad Museum in Greeley, Colorado. Convention registration includes admission to the museum Wednesday through Sunday.
- Meet fellow attendees at a committee-hosted icebreaker and social at Little America on Thursday at 6 p.m. Appetizers will be served, and a no-host bar will be available. This is an extra-fare addition at $20/person.
- The convention begins on Friday with the Cheyenne Trolley service from Little America to the Cheyenne Depot between 8 and 11 a.m. The excursion includes tours of the Union Pacific Steam Shops, the depot, and its museum.
- See Harry Brunk’s HO-scale Union Central and Northern (UC&N) model railroad, which depicts the narrow-gauge Clear Creek Lines of the Colorado and Southern Railway. Admission to the Cheyenne Depot Museum will be from Friday through Sunday.
- Attend the Sherman Hill Model Train Show: Saturday and Sunday, May 15–16, 2027, at the Event Center at Archer, 3801 Archer Parkway, Cheyenne, Wyoming 8009.
- On Saturday, during the train show, visit the nearby High Plains Preservation Association, located in a former Atlas missile silo and led by President Mike Pannell. Its vintage rolling stock includes a circa-1913 Union Pacific “CA” class caboose, 1870 Union Pacific caboose 2095, and 1901 NCS caboose 2269.
- Convention headquarters at Little America will host presentations and clinics, a model contest, and model viewing.
- Our Banquet Speaker is Ed Dickens, Senior Manager of Union Pacific Steam Program, speaking about the Union Pacific 4014 “Big Boy”. This is an Extra Fare addition at $50/person.
The convention committee will provide an early registration and Little America hotel registration link as soon as they are available.

- Add the convention to your calendar. May 13 – 15, 2027.
- Make your Little America Hotel Reservation THROUGH OUR LINK so you get the lowest hotel rate.
- Plan your model submissions for the model contest.
- Dust off or refine a presentation and volunteer to give a presentation for the convention, then contact Marty Vaughn, clinic coordinator, and Mid Continent, convention co-chair.
